About Jessica
Hello, there! As you probably already know, my name is Jessica, and I'm an Honors Mentorship student. A senior at Flowery Branch High School, this year I interned at the Hall County Public Defender's Office, as I've been interested in going to law school since I was 12-years-old.
At my mentorship, I've had the amazing opportunity to sit in court, read cases, help at the front desk and even visit the county jail! Whenever I watch a public defender pat an inmate on the back, it humanizes something as black and white as the law and is inspiring. What struck me most during my mentorship is the importance of rehabilitation and the disparity between poverty and affluence. After discovering the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world, I've become interested in criminal justice reform. I will be attending Emory University in in the fall and would like to intern at the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta during my undergrad years! |
